Dorothy Dorwese Zylks Keener November 22, 1914 - May 4, 2018 Dorothy Dorwese Zylks Keener, born November 22, 1914, in Zylks Louisiana, passed from this life Friday, May 4, 2018, at her son's home in Trinity TX. She was 103 years old and a resident of Zylks Louisiana. Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband William Keener; son Don Milton Keener; daughter Shelia LaRue Dupree; parents Samuel Gensel and Viola May Zylks; brothers Roy Don Zylks, Samuel Gensel Zylks Jr., John Zylks (who died as a young sailor in WWII), and Melvin (Pete) Zylks; and sisters Amma Harville, Betty Ruth Zylks, Mary Clyde McDuff, and Grace Zylks (who died from a water moccasin bite as a young girl). She is survived by her son Ronnie Glenn Keener and wife Margaret of Trinity TX; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; sister Fay Thompson of Atlanta TX; and a host of nieces; nephews; great nieces; and great nephews. Dorothy was a kind, gentle, and stalwart woman. She loved her family, sitting on her front porch and visiting, sewing and knitting. Dorothy loved Zylks Louisiana, living on the Zylks' home place, and teaching others to knit and sew. She will be missed by those remaining in life, but harmoniously received by those who have patiently awaited her arrival on the other side of the veil. Services will be under the direction of Dorothy's great niece, Tracy Lee of Queen City Funeral Home. Visitation services will be held in her honor Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Queen City Funeral Home, beginning at 10:00 AM and ending at 12:00 PM. After a brief lunch break, services will resume, beginning with a funeral service at Queen City Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Dear friends and granddaughter Patricia Cross will address the congregation in personal and sweet reflections upon Dorothy's long and enduring life. Interment will immediately follow at Slaughter Cemetery in Rodessa, LA , where Dorothy will be laid to rest among many family members and beside her eternal sweetheart, William Keener. Her son, Ronnie Glenn Keener will dedicate her final resting place.
