Sharon Kay (Doss) Rodgers

December 17, 1945 - November 04, 2019

Sharon Kay (Doss) Rodgers, born December 17, 1945 in Bowie County Texas joined her husband of 51 years, Ralph C. Rodgers Jr., in the presence of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 04, 2019. She was 73 years young.

In addition to her husband Ralph, Sharon was preceded in death by her Father A.B. Doss and Mother Adele Pierce and her beloved Aunt Beulah Kirkland who raised her. Also, preceded in death by her sisters Emmalena Talley, Ouida Betts, Opal Kirkland and brothers Milton Doss and David Bryan. She will be greatly missed by her son Greg Rodgers and wife Paula of Sunbury OH; daughters Sheila Young and husband John of Atlanta TX, and Michelle Poteete and husband Philip of Queen City TX; sister Shirley Alcorn of Atlanta TX; grandchildren Lyndsey Tidwell and husband Hunter of Atlanta TX, Justin Rodgers and wife Jessica of Columbus OH, Jeremy Rodgers and fiancé Summer of Columbus OH, Cody Fisher and wife Alondra of Virginia Beach VA, Kieona Seldon of Maryland, Greg Young and De’Jah Young of Atlanta TX; great grandchildren Genevieve Fisher of Virginia Beach VA; and soon to be born Ella Kay Michelle Tidwell of Atlanta TX.

Sharon Kay, as many knew her, is remembered as a feisty, sassy woman who was vibrant and full of life. There was never any doubt what her opinion was on any given subject.  In her spare time, you could find Sharon “shopping” at any number of stores throughout the Ark-La-Tex.  If you wanted to find her, you need not do anything more than hangout at the Atlanta Walmart.  She was sure to pass through there several times a week.

She loved her pets, especially Gabby and Satchmo and most recently was fostering a sick puppy named Zeke.  She also loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was looking forward in great anticipation to Jeremy and Summer’s wedding and the birth of Lyndsey and Hunter’s daughter Ella Kay.

Sharon had a solid faith in Jesus Christ dating back to her childhood growing up on Miller St. in Atlanta.  Her heritage of faith was passed on to her kids; having first put them on the church bus at an early age each Sunday morning and later attending with them regularly as they grew.  Each of her kids now serve actively in their local church due to her faithfulness.  Her faith was further demonstrated through her steadfast prayers that ultimately led her husband back to the Lord.  Sharon had been an active member of Christian Fellowship church in Queen City for the last 29 years and would always lend an ear to hear and offer words of encouragement to anyone in need.  She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew this incredible woman of God.

Mrs. Rodgers was cremated under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home in Queen City, Texas.  A memorial service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, November 23rd at Christian Fellowship Church, 1206 US Hwy 59 N, Queen City, TX, with visitation beginning at 2:00pm.
